Friday, September 11: Me, Glenn and Them Heauxs

Friday, September 11

When I got to work that morning I was still swooning from the trash bag episode. My message light was blinking on my phone and I absently went through the process of retrieving messages.

“Good morning, Mia. It’s Glenn. I just wanted you to know that I’m thinking of you. I wanted you to know what a great time I had last night. There was just the perfect amount of serious talk, and communication, and laughter and intimacy. It was perfect. I hope you have a good day, and I’ll talk to you later.”
I closed my eyes and thought of the last thing he had said to me the night before:
“Mia… tomorrow I’m going to my cousin’s football game and you are going to your mama’s… Saturday is ChaCha’s birthday party and Sunday is True Blood… Monday we can go to the movies…”
Was it supposed to be this perfect?

If I had thought I was a goner before, it was officially Official.

:::

The day passed without incident and soon it was time for my weekly visit to mama’s.

You know I didn’t even want to go. You know that I wanted to spend even more time with Glenn, but even a love sick fool like me knows when it is time to get a little breathing room.

It was four o’clock and I had been there about two hours when I got a text:

Glenn: You’re not home. Spending the night at your parents?

Mia: No, just visiting. I will be home tonight. What’s going on with you? Did you have a good day?

Glenn: Had a so so day. Hope yours was better. I’m heading to my lil cousin’s football game.

Mia: Without me?!?! Wah…

Glenn: You are making me laugh – you’re gonna make me crash.

I called him then, just to hear that deep voice of his. I was walking through Target and he was getting lost on his way to the game. He became so turned around that I let him go so he could get his bearings straight, sending him a text to remind him to leave bread crumbs so he will no how to get home.

:::

As my family sat around the TV after dinner, I called QQ to have our nightly chat. As we talked about everything and nothing I stalked Glenn on his face.book page. Cause I’m stalkerish that way.

My goodness. He had posted that he was at his cousin’s game – and what city he was in… When I tell you all the rats came out... Lawd ha’ mercy.

All these heauxs (© Monie) were sending him messages, asking him what he was doing after the game, telling him that he was in their town and – the best one – was the heaux talking about she had made cupcakes.

Bitch, I got your cupcake.

He was answering them in a friendly, but noncommittal way and I decided I would throw my comments out there… not so much to talk shit, but to let him know that I knew what the hell was going on on his page.

I went home that night – and when I got there his car was parked safely in our underground garage, the lights in apartment off. Big time party boy, huh? I smiled to myself and went to sleep.
